Day-To-Day Itinerary
Day 01 Home - Shanghai Transfer via: TBA, on your own arrangement. Arrive in Shanghai. Be met & transferred to your hotel. Free at leisure for the rest of day.
Day 02 Shanghai - Urumqi (B/L) Visit the famous Jade Buddha Temple with a 2m high sitting white Jade Buddha and the 400-year old Yu Yuan Garden. Yu Yuan Garden has quite a few scenic courtyards dotted with baroque rockery, pools and flora, all connected by corridors and passageways and cultural relics. Then proceed to visit the Bund, where the great foreign commercial houses and banks built their imposing office buildings before 1930s. Take an evening flight to Urumqi. Upon arrival, our local guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel.
Day 03 Urumqi (B/L) In the morning drive about 115km to Heavenly Lake (Tian Chi), nestled in the Tianshan Mountain range. Surrounding the Heavenly Lake are snow mountains, glacier forests and grassland alpine lakes, featuring a vertical natural landscape belt. Return to Urumqi after lunch and take a city tour, which gives you a glimpse of the major sights of this northwestern city. Here you can see Nomadic Khazakhs, a Middle Eastern bazaar, a jade-carving center and more.
Day 04 Urumqi - Kashgar (B/L) Today we will bring you to South Pasture located in the Southern Mountains where you will visit local herds. Take an evening flight to Kashgar. At the western end of China's Silk Road, Kashgar has been the stopping-off point for travelers for at least 2,000 years. Upon arrival, our local guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel. Day 05 Kashgar - Urumqi (B/L) After breakfast, head directly to wander the Kashgar Sunday Bazaar. Throughout the streets, tourists can find markets selling various daily- life goods. Then you will tour the largest mosque in China - the Id Kah Mosque, which covers an area of 16,800 square meters. Then pay a visit to Abakh Khoia Tomb (Tomb of Xiangfei), the most magnificent and well-preserved Islamic architectural complex in Xinjiang. Take an evening flight to Urumqi. Upon arrival, our local guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel.
Day 06 Urumqi - Turpan (B/L) In the morning drive about 380km to Turpan, an oasis stretching across the ancient Silk Road. Take a sightseeing of the Gaochang Ruins, the largest city ruin in west China, and the Jiaohe Ruins, the best preserved town ruin in China initially built about 2000 years ago. You'll also visit Grape Valley, in lush contrast to the desert surrounding it, and the Karez Well, which is an underground irrigation system that was installed 2,000 years ago.
Day 07 Turpan - Jiayuguan (B/L) A morning tour includes the Flaming Mountains,Suliman's Minaret and a local village. Take a comfortable soft-sleeper overnight train to Jiayuguan.
Day 08 Jiayuguan (B/L) Arrive in Jiayuguan and visit the old fortress standing at the westernmost point of the Great Wall. Visit Jiayuguan Gate Tower, the Overhanging Great Wall and the Tombs in the Wei and Jin Dynasty (about 1200 years ago). Climb up this historic "Last Guard House" which guards the pass between two mountain ranges. This famous pass has been the subject of poems and ballads for centuries. Stay overnight in Jiayuguan.
Day 09 Jiayuguan - Dunhuang (B/L) After breakfast transfer overland 4 hours to Dunhuang. Drive through the Gobi Desert and grasslands en route. You'll see the beautiful landscape along the Silk Road. Stay overnight in Dunhuang.
Day 10 Dunhuang (B/L) Today's excursion will bring you to the Mogao Caves. Praised as "a glittering pearl that adorns the Silk Road", Mogao Caves are the most famous grottoes in China. Continue to the Mingsha Sand Dunes and take a camel ride to the Crescent Moon Lake.
Day 11 Dunhuang - Xi'an (B/L) Take a morning flight to Xi'an. Upon arrival, our local guide will meet you and escort you to your hotel. Visit the Provincial Museum showing you more than 370,000 relics including Bronze wares, terra cotta figures, gold and silver wares and murals with three thousand years. And next is the Bell Tower. Also enjoy strolling along the Ancient City Wall considered as one of the largest ancient military defensive systems in the world.
Day 12 Xi'an (B/L) Enjoy a magnificent day of sightseeing what has been called the 8th Wonder of the World --the Terra Cotta Soldiers Museum, which was listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1987. Altogether over 7,000 pottery soldiers, horses, chariots, and even weapons have been unearthed there. After lunch, visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, which is one of the most famous Buddhist pagodas in China and initially built in 589.
Day 13 Xi'an - Beijing (B/L) Take a morning flight to Beijing. Start your Beijing exploration with first visit to the largest public square in the world: Tiananmen Square. Next, stroll through the largest and the best preserved Imperial Palace in the world: the Forbidden City.
Day 14 Beijing (B/L) After breakfast, drive about one hour to Badaling Great Wall, China's most spectacular sight extending more than 3,700 miles across China and most often visited for China tour. It is one of the best preserved sections and the highest point of the Great Wall. After lunch you also visit one of the Mind Tombs. Ming Tombs are the general names for the mausoleums of 13 emperors of the Ming Dynasty (1368 - 1644), located 50 kilometers north from Beijing City. They were fully recognized by UNESCO's World Heritage Committee in 2000.
Day 15 Beijing - - Home (B) Visit the Temple of Heaven, which was built specifically for worship of heaven and prayers for good harvests during the Ming and Qing dynasties. Free at leisure until to be transferred to the airport for your flight home. |
